Donald Teskey was born in Limerick in 1956 and studied at the Limerick School of Art and Design. He is now based in Dublin. His bold, gestural paintings take as their subject the shorelines and seascapes of Ireland, and his surfaces, thick with impasto deal as much with the rough texture of weather beaten rocks or wind blown water as they tell of the fall of light or colour. He has exhibited extensively in Ireland and beyond.
His work is represented in the collections of the Arts Council of Ireland; The Contemporary Irish Art Society; The Office of Public Works; Deutsche Bank, Dublin; Dublin Institute of Technology; Ark Life; A.I.B. bank; Barings Asset Management, London and the National Contemporary Drawing Collection amongst others. |
