This eagerly anticipated show is Maurice Desmond's first since 2005. Over the past number of years he has visited the sites of some of the bloodiest battles of the Great War. He has also immersed himself in the poetry of Wilfred Owen, Edward Thomas and Siegfried Sassoon. These encounters have inspired a suite of expressionist landscapes that capture visually the pain, anguish and desolation of those terrible times.
